National Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Research Facility


National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) launched the National Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Research Facility in March 2024 to strengthen and promote research in the field of DRR. The facility aims to offer solutions for mitigating and minimizing disaster risks through innovations and action research. The results of this research are envisioned to help address the challenges faced by states/districts across India.

Following are the three key initiatives under the Research Facility:

1. NIDM Doctoral Fellowship Programme on Disaster Studies (F.Y. 2024-25) : The selected scholars enrolled in a full-time Ph.D. programme in a UGC-recognized institution/university in any discipline and willing to work on Disaster Studies would be eligible for Junior and Senior Research Fellowship (JRF/SRF) as per UGC norms for a maximum period of five years.

2. Research Project/Study on Disaster Management: Innovation & Action Research (F.Y. 2024-25) : The selected faculty members and scientists (regular or with 8 years of experience) would be eligible for research grant for a period not exceeding two years. .

3. Best Thesis Ranking in Disaster Studies (F.Y. 2024-25): National platform for recognition of Ph.D. research and contribution for the field of Disaster Risk Reduction. The theme for call for nominations for F.Y. 2024-25 is Chemical and industrial disasters and related issues.
